R.C. Mathews Announces Construction of TPAC’s Transformative New East Bank Venue in Partnership with JE Dunn and Don Hardin Group

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — December 8, 2025 — R.C. Mathews Contractor is proud to announce its role, in partnership with JE Dunn Construction and Don Hardin Group, in building the Tennessee Performing Arts Center’s (TPAC) new East Bank venue.

Situated on a 4.4-acre site along the city’s revitalizing East Bank, the 370,000-square-foot performing arts center has been designed by globally renowned architect Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), working in collaboration with William Rawn Associates and Nashville-based Hastings. The contemporary design will create a dynamic new home for the performing arts, transforming the way artists and audiences engage with the city’s cultural scene.

The new venue's architecture blends innovation, accessibility, and artistic expression. Plans include a world-class main theater hall, a mid-size theater designed for a wide range of performances, and a flexible, multi-use theater to accommodate emerging artists, community events, and experimental works. In addition, the facility will feature direct pedestrian-bridge connectivity, seamlessly linking the venue to downtown Nashville and enhancing the walkability, cohesion, and vibrancy of the East Bank.

As Nashville continues its emergence as a national arts destination, the construction team is honored to help bring TPAC’s vision to life. Working alongside JE Dunn and Don Hardin Group, R.C. Mathews is committed to delivering a facility that reflects the creativity, diversity, and energy of Nashville’s arts community. Through thoughtful design, engineering excellence, and strong collaboration, the new TPAC venue will serve as a beacon for artistic innovation and community engagement.

R.C. Mathews looks forward to continuing work with its partners as the construction process progresses and as Nashville prepares for a new chapter in its cultural evolution.
