Skylar is joining us for the summer as a Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) intern!
Originally from Bristol, Tennessee, Skylar has a dual background in Construction Engineering Technology and Fine Arts from East Tennessee State University, and she is currently pursuing a Master of Architecture at the University of Tennessee.
Skylar was drawn to the construction field because of her love for problem-solving and creating processes that lead to tangible, community-focused results. Skylar returned to school to get her Masters degree in Architecture because she missed the creative and design-based solutions that can be found in architecture. She is interested in VDC because it's an industry that bridges the gap between technical problem solving and creative design solutions that contribute to the final end product. Throughout her internship, Skylar is eager to learn how VDC plays a critical role in shaping projects, particularly in the early stages of budgeting and scheduling.

Hobbies: When she’s not immersed in studying, Skylar enjoys hiking, painting, and spending time with friends and family.

Post-graduation goal: Obtain her architectural license and begin practicing!
Five-year outlook: Skylar would love to be working in a role that allows her to apply both her architectural and construction management expertise.
For Skylar, a successful internship means gaining hands-on experience with the day-to-day work of the VDC team, including learning the ins and outs of processes, software, and real-world applications. We’re excited to have her on board and can’t wait to see how she continues to grow this summer!
